Quantum-Si Director of Technical Operations in San Diego, California

The Director of Technical Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of manufacturing operations. This leader will play a pivotal role in advancing and shaping the future of reagent manufacturing at Quantum-Si ensuring that the production processes run smoothly, efficiently, and safely. The Director will lead a team of engineers, scientists, and operations staff to implement continuous improvement initiatives, optimize production systems, and oversee manufacturing process development. This role demands a strategic thinker with strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and technologies for chemical and biological reagents used in assays on scientific instrumentation.

As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, scientists, and operations staff.

  • Collaborate with senior management to align technical operations with the overall business strategy

  • Provide strategic input on capacity expansion and technology investments

  • Work closely with R&D teams to transfer new reagents and processes to manufacturing

  • Ensure smooth scale-up and integration of new technologies and products into manufacturing

  • Lead initiatives to improve reagent manufacturing processes, increase yields, and reduce costs

  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies and automation to enhance reagent manufacturing capabilities

Qualifications

Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant scientific or engineering field (e.g., biochemistry, chemical engineering).

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in reagent manufacturing operations within the life sciences industry.

  • Proven track record of successfully managing technical operations in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, systems, and technologies

  • Experience with manufacturing processes for reagent formulation, protein expression, purification, and bio-conjugation.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills with a history of building and developing high performing teams.

The estimated base salary range for this role based in the United States of America is: $175,000 - $225,000. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, level of the position, an individual’s skills, knowledge and abilities, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all full-time employees are eligible for our discretionary bonus program and equity as part of the compensation package.
